Shout-Out to the Transgender Cultural District 🎉
Founded by three black trans women in 2017 as Compton’s Transgender Cultural District, The Transgender District in San Francisco is the first legally recognized transgender district in the world.
Team North Bay has had the immense pleasure over the last several months to connect with a number of the District’s staffers, and have so much appreciation for them and their work. Here are some of things we love about them:
- Their badass commitment to educating the world on the “profundity of the transgender culture” and the many, many ways in which trans people have contributed to all our lives.
- The ways in which the District brings together the entire Bay Area and world-wide community in support of the empowerment of the trans community and offer resources for stable housing, development, cultural heritage, and the arts.
- The ways in which their team has embraced North Bay’s mission to support the trans community and connected, advised, mentored, advocated for us.
- We love their big hearts and their beautiful minds.
